A company in the food industry based in Angola, New York is currently searching for a Maintenance Mechanic to offer assistance to the Plant General Manager and the maintenance team.
The essential duties and responsibilities of this role include ensuring the smooth operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by conducting repairs and preventive/predictive maintenance on all production systems. This also includes performing basic repairs and preventive maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment such as power transmission, drives, and general machine systems.
Additionally, the Maintenance Mechanic must be able to carry out maintenance activities on utility systems to provide a continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
They must also have the ability to install, start up, and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown, and in line with OSHA requirements.

The ideal candidate must possess the ability to climb in overhead structures, work on ladders and high lifts, work beneath machines, and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work.
It is essential that the candidate is highly safety conscious and has knowledge and experience working with OSHA regulations.
They should have experience and the ability to work in a fast-paced food processing/manufacturing environment and possess basic industrial welding, plumbing, and electrical skills.
The Maintenance Mechanic should also be able to dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, repair or replace defective parts, and utilize the four main principles of troubleshooting, which are investigating, evaluating, repair, and prevention.
The ideal candidate must have excellent cognitive skills, the ability to work under pressure, and be able to use all shop equipment such as a lathe, milling machine, welding equipment, and cutting tools.
Moreover, the Maintenance Mechanic should have experience with preventive maintenance programs with work orders and inspection routines and experience requesting parts.
They should have a one-to-two-year certificate from college or technical school, 5 to 7 plus years of related packaging experience and/or training in the food industry.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.
