The organization is presently in search of a seasoned Senior Tax Manager who shall be accountable for the preparation, analysis, and filing of all corporate and commodity tax returns globally.

As a Senior Tax Manager, you will be the primary point of contact for all tax authorities across the globe, and shall also be responsible for managing tax compliance on a global scale.
You will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), offering guidance and assistance to the Tax Specialist with problem-solving.
Additionally, you will also play a pivotal role in tax planning related to global expansion.

Your contributions shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Overseeing the preparation and filing of tax returns, including corporate income tax, VAT/GST, transfer pricing, and other relevant tax filings in all jurisdictions where the company operates.
- Ensuring timely and accurate compliance with tax laws and regulations, including monitoring changes in tax legislation and advising management on potential impacts.
- Preparing tax provisions, reconciliations, and disclosures for financial reporting purposes in accordance with IFRS.
- Developing and implementing tax planning strategies to optimize the company's overall tax position, minimize tax risks, and maximize tax savings opportunities.
- Conducting comprehensive tax analysis and providing strategic recommendations to management on various business initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, and international expansion.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess the tax implications of new products, services, and business activities, ensuring alignment with the company's overall objectives.
Leading transfer pricing documentation efforts, including the preparation of transfer pricing policies, intercompany agreements, and documentation to support arm's length pricing.
- Managing transfer pricing compliance requirements across jurisdictions, ensuring alignment with OECD guidelines and local regulations.
- Providing guidance on international tax matters, including permanent establishment issues, withholding tax obligations, and treaty interpretation.
- Identifying and assessing tax risks associated with business operations and transactions, developing strategies to mitigate risks effectively.
- Managing tax audits, inquiries, and controversies with tax authorities in collaboration with external advisors, ensuring favorable outcomes and minimizing potential exposures.
- Implementing tax compliance controls and procedures to enhance the company's overall tax risk management framework.
- As the SME, providing guidance and mentorship to the tax team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Fostering cross-functional collaboration and knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance the overall effectiveness and expertise of the tax function.

 The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 10-12 years of relevant experience in tax management within a finance function.
- Experience working within a technical or engineering organization, with knowledge of the high-technology industry being an asset.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve and make well-judged decisions.
- A strategic mindset, with a keen sense of priorities, along with an ability to pivot as the landscape changes.
- A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
- Technical competence using software programs, including but not limited to Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
- An entrepreneurial mindset and comfort working in a flat organization.
A Chartered Professional Accountant certification is highly valued for this role.

 

Hybrid expectation: 2 days in their Oakville office 

Preference given to candidates with industry accounting experience and experience with tech clients

CPA designation preferred
