As a maintenance technician, your job will involve performing work that requires the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in good repair.
Your duties may include pipe fitting, insulating, welding, machining, carpentry, rebuilding or replacing pumps, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment.
Here are the essential job functions:
- Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools and then reassemble the equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
- Use a variety of tools ranging from common hand and power tools like hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Record the type and cost of maintenance or repair work using Managers Plus.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
- Fill out proper documentation in accordance with customer specifications and government agencies. - Aid other employees to maintain a safe process and quality product.
- Follow safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Comply with all processes and procedures of SQF 2000 to ensure a safe, quality product.

Here are the minimum qualifications:
- Willingness and ability to be exposed to and perform all physical and environmental factors, including very hot climates to extremely cold climates.
- Education: Certification from Vocational School; associated degree in industrial/mechanical technology; education not required if sufficient experience.
- Experience: 2 years in manufacturing position (with education); 2-5 years of maintenance-related position (without education). Here are the preferred qualifications:

- Experience: 2-5 years in manufacturing position (with education); 4-10 years of maintenance-related position (without education).

Here are the physical requirements:
- Twisting, bending, and squatting with a 50lbs object in hand.
- Long periods of standing and walking.
- Lifting 60 lbs. from the ground.
