  • The Role The role requires you to provide tax compliance and planning services to a wide range of clients, including corporations, partnerships, and trusts. You will independently and efficiently manage and review tax files and engagements, research tax issues and prepare internal and external memorandums.
  • You will also be responsible for liaising with tax authorities on tax audits and appeals.
  • As a leader, you will be expected to lead complex engagements, manage the business relationship with a focus on high-value, provide quality tax advice, and seek to expand services to clients.
  • You will need to recognize client issues and risk tolerance and provide appropriate firm services.
  • You should demonstrate an understanding of the client's industry, marketplace, business trends and technical and industry developments, key performance drivers, and have a proven ability to communicate such to the client. You will also be responsible for identifying and resolving accounting and tax issues.
  • You should be able to delegate successfully to all levels of staff and provide guidance and training for staff members to enhance their career development within the firm.
  • You need to foster positive working relationships with client personnel, co-workers, and be responsible for managing client relationships, winning new work, and managing the quality of work completed.
  • You should also mentor and coach other managers and junior staff. What You Will Bring
Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate would have completed the CICA In-Depth Tax Course and have a minimum of 5+ years of Public Practice experience in the tax specialty.
  • Prior experience in owner-managed private company work is considered an asset.
  • You should have excellent project management, time management, and leadership skills.
  • You should be an innovative thinker, comfortable in a team and client-focused environment, and a self-starter, able to work independently.
  • You must have strong interpersonal, technical, and communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • You should have a strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail, be a problem solver with solid analytical skills, and experience in CaseWare/Caseview and TaxPrep would be considered an asset.
  • You should also have experience in a paperless environment, be able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines.
