Job Responsibilities
As a Tax Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring our clients comply with tax authorities while minimizing their tax burdens. Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring compliance with tax authorities while adhering to firm policies and professional standards.
- Conducting top-level reviews of tax returns and resolving tax issues with clients, involving specialists when necessary.
- Communicating identified tax accrual review issues with clients and the audit team.
- Planning and reviewing tax processes and procedures, including budgeting and staffing.
- Monitoring the engagement process and actual time incurred versus budget with the assistance of senior staff.
- Ensuring timely billing and managing out-of-scope activities, communicating with clients accordingly.
- Managing client relationships and expectations in alignment with project requirements.
- Providing timely advice and guidance to clients on tax matters.
- Identifying research needs and providing clear analysis on tax issues.
- Applying firm and professional standards for tax advice and tax returns.
- Involving firm specialists as necessary to address complex tax issues.
- Assisting in developing efficient methods to reduce clients' current and future tax liabilities.
- Serving as a technical resource and ensuring compliance with firm policies.
- Framing projects and issues for effective delegation to senior staff and associates.
- Developing an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues in specific areas of taxation.
- Organizing and conducting internal Continuing Professional Education (CPE) training sessions in your area of specialization, involving firm specialists.
- Introducing and developing innovative ideas to improve clients' financial positions.
- Reviewing tax implications studies and offering alternative courses of action.
- Identifying and leveraging lessons learned from prior projects to improve processes and methods.
- Supervising Tax Staff and Senior Tax Staff on all projects.
- Reviewing work prepared by Tax Staff and Senior Tax Staff and providing constructive feedback.
- Training Tax Staff and Senior Tax Staff on current software tools.
- Acting as a Career Advisor, managing workloads and providing performance feedback.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; MBA or Master of Accountancy preferred.
- Eight or more years of relevant tax experience.
- CPA or EA designation preferred.
- Strong knowledge of tax compliance and consulting principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Professional communication and documentation abilities.
