General Purpose of the Job:
The Supervisor II, Laboratory (Hematology) will be responsible for supervising the core lab functions, managing workflow from sample processing to result reporting, and ensuring adherence to corporate standards and quality requirements. This role will provide day-to-day guidance to teammates and work closely with the Manager, Laboratory (Lab).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Provide direction, oversight, and communication to teammates regarding workflow, departmental tasks, and assignments.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with all departmental procedures, quality assurance requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Training & Development: Serve as a resource to teammates, providing support for training, competency programs, and professional development.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancing efficiency within the lab and implementing best practices.
- Staff Management: Oversee hiring, promoting, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions while maintaining compliance with DaVita policies.
- Operational Oversight: Manage workload distribution, staffing plans, and ensure coverage during absences. Assist with bench work as needed.
- Compliance & Safety: Maintain active participation in the lab’s quality improvement program, ensuring compliance with safety policies and laboratory standards.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience as a Medical Technologist or Laboratory Supervisor.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
- FL Supervisor's license in Chemistry is required.
- ASCP or AAB certification as a Medical Technologist.
- Strong leadership skills and experience in leading lab teams preferred.
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
- Must have ASCP or AAB certification as a Medical Technologist.
- Must have FL Supervisor's license.
- Must be willing to work the night shift (5 PM - 3 AM).
