Respiratory Therapist
Job Description
They have 3 positions available - one day shift and 2 night shifts. Shifts are 12 hours / typically 3 days a week. Weekends and holidays are rotating.
There is no ICU, but they have a diversity of patients.
To plan, implement and perform respiratory care diagnostic and therapeutic regimes for the care of patients for whom services are indicated.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation
· Operation, maintenance, and management of related equipment including mechanical ventilators
· Patient transportation (internal, external, as staffing allows)
· Blood gas drawing, analysis and interpretation
· Sampling blood from invasive cardiovascular lines
· Artificial airway management
· Aerosolized drug administration
· Oxygen therapy
· Humidity therapy
· Continuous positive airway pressure therapy (CPAP)
· Bilevel CPAP
· Pulse oximetry
· Pulmonary function testing (bedside and in diagnostic lab)
· Incentive spirometry (IS)
· Chest Physiotherapy and airway clearance techniques
· Patient assessment
· Patient education
· Effective communication with other departments
· Operation of all equipment in accordance with department policy
· Equipment disinfection
· Quality control of all equipment
· Active participation in the departments Quality Assurance Program
· Participation in in-service education program
· Other duties as assigned
Must-Haves

Prior to start date, must obtain State of Vermont Respiratory Therapy Licensure

Associate degree from AMA approved program for Respiratory Care
3
Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist or eligibility to take the NBRC written examination within one year of hire
4
Reliable transportation as there is limited public transportation
Nice-To-Haves
1
Current BLS, ACLS and NRP certification preferred

At least one year of work history as a Respiratory Therapist in hospital setting
3
Ability to work independently
