The Design Engineer engages in collaborative efforts with clients to transform their design concepts from initial drawings through prototyping to successful product realization.

This role entails creating or modifying designs based on customer inputs, which may include drawings, concepts, specifications, and additional requirements.

A comprehensive understanding of various disciplines across multiple markets and applications is essential for this position.

The Design Engineer is responsible for developing new methods or adapting existing techniques and procedures to satisfy client specifications, all while adhering to company policies and safety protocols.

**Key Competencies Required for Success as a Design Engineer:**

- Analyzes client component designs and provides guidance to refine them in accordance with desired application requirements.

- Translates client designs into prototype components through innovative and reliable mechanical product development methodologies. - Leads the development and manufacturing of prototype client designs, refining and testing for manufacturability, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and profitability.

- Collaborates with sales and production teams on new applications, ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability and tooling to facilitate efficient production methods and processes.

- Evaluates and develops manufacturing processes by researching best practices; applies knowledge of product design, fabrication and assembly processes, tooling and fixturing design, materials, and quality control standards; consults with equipment vendors and solicits feedback from a diverse range of internal and external team members.

- Ensures product and process quality by developing and implementing testing methods.

- Aids in the development of training methodologies and implements new procedures and processes.

- Collaborates with sales and production teams, along with other personnel, to address procedural and quality issues related to the production and delivery of high-quality products.

- Coordinates and actively participates in project meetings, documents decisions, and facilitates regular updates to internal and external stakeholders regarding project status.

- Builds and maintains expertise in industry trends and best practices, utilizing this knowledge to enhance manufacturing engineering methodologies and drive innovation.

- Assists in evaluating defective materials received from vendors and communicates feedback as necessary.

- Supports periodic reviews/audits of work practices as compared to documented procedures and reports deviations to supervisors.

Participates in the writing and review of manufacturing documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Process Manuals (MPMs), and deviation reports.

- Undertakes other duties as assigned.

**Education/Certification/Licenses:** The position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

A minimum of five years of experience in design engineering or manufacturing engineering is essential, alongside a solid understanding of design for manufacturing methodology with practical application experience.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, manufacturing ERP systems, and AutoCAD (2D/3D) is also required.
