Licensed Veterinarian Technician - Surgical
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities, varying by department, include but are not limited to the following:
1. Providing exceptional and compassionate care for patients from admission to discharge.
2. Assisting veterinarians in all aspects of care, including interpreting and implementing treatment directives.
3. Performing all necessary technical procedures and treatments while strictly adhering to department and hospital protocols.
4. Maintaining professional communication with clients and referral veterinarians.
5. Keeping concise and accurate records of the patient's treatment progress and charges.
6. Managing stock, ordering supplies, and assisting in maintaining the cleanliness of the ward.
7. Participating in the training of new employees and volunteers.
8. Engaging in educational and research projects.
9. Fulfilling any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Qualifications for this role, varying by department, include but are not limited to the following:
1. Possession of a New York State Veterinary Technician’s license or permit.
2. Adequate animal handling experience and ability to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
3. Capable of successful teamwork and the ability to work independently and proactively.
4. Establishing and maintaining effective, respectful working relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction with all stakeholders, including department staff, medical staff, support staff, clients, and referring veterinarians.
5. Ability to remain composed in stressful and emergency situations.
