Manager/Supervisor

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Manage day-to-day clinical operations, including staffing, payroll, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvement within the Emergency Department.
  2. Supervise a single unit, leading a team of approximately 20 - 60+ employees.
  3. Monitor allocation and utilization of personnel based on changes in patient population/needs, optimizing patient care while identifying savings opportunities.
  4. Oversee human resources management, department safety programs, and risk management on a daily basis.
  5. Ensure coordinated plans of treatment, customer-focused care, and cost-effective utilization of services.
  6. Collaborate with healthcare providers outside of the unit to achieve optimal patient care across the continuum.
  7. Investigate and resolve patient/family member concerns regarding patient care.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a leadership role (charge nurse, preceptor, quality improvement champion, etc.).
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. High school diploma OR General Education Diploma (GED) required.
  • Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Evidence of training completion as a preceptor or charge nurse.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, clinical care delivery processes, staffing, and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP certification may be required for specific departments.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ACLS certification strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • BSN or MSN.
  • Experience managing in a union environment.
  • Charge or management experience in an Emergency Department environment.

Additional Variable Compensation: The position has an annual bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
